The World Health Organization, WHO, classifies the earthquake in Syria and Turkey as the worst natural disaster in Europe in a century.
– We are witnessing the worst natural disaster in Europe in a century – and we do not yet know how extensive it is, says WHO’s European Director Hans Kluge at a press conference on Tuesday.
So far, over 37,000 people have been confirmed dead, while the UN states that over seven million children and a total of 27 million people have been affected in some way by the disaster.
There are still stories of survivors being miraculously saved in the mass of the race, but with each passing hour the chances decrease, especially as the temperature at night in the affected area drops to several degrees below zero.
