easier and faster updates

easier and faster updates

Starting March 28, 2023, Microsoft will make Windows updates both easier and faster thanks to UUP, a much more efficient delivery system.

Are you tired of incessant and untimely Windows updates, especially when they require a restart of the PC? Microsoft finally got it. And will finally offer a simpler, faster and more efficient method to keep the system perfectly up to date. The solution is called UUP, for Unified Update Platform, or unified update platform in French. This device, on which the publisher has been working for seven years, is still based on Windows Udpate, the module which monitors, downloads and installs the various Windows developments, as they become available.

Unified Update Platform: One restart to apply updates

But the big difference with the model in effect until then is that the UUP manages the simultaneous installation of several types of updates, whether security patches, addition of functions, device drivers or definitions for Microsoft Defender. Even better, this new system promises faster updates, thanks to more compact files – by around 30% according to the publisher. Finally, and above all, it only requires a single restart of the PC, when everything is ready, when it sometimes took several successively to apply everything. Hallelujah!

Microsoft, which details the UUP in a technical note – very technical, even… –, plans to deploy this system from March 28, 2023. Good news: not only will there be nothing special to do to take advantage of it, but, in addition, the UUP will will apply to both Windows 10 and Windows 11. t to top it off, Microsoft promises automatic repair of the operating system during the update process, as we explained a few days ago in our article. You have to believe that the publisher still listens to its users…
