Nasa has captured a strange phenomenon on image. It is a large piece of the sun’s surface that has detached and is now spinning around the sun’s north pole like a large polar vortex. This is reported by space.com, among others.
According to Nasa, the mass is part of the sun’s outermost layer and forms the strong light rays that can be seen around the sun. The phenomenon is described as very unusual and raises some questions among the research community.
