Titanic is considered by many to be one of the most moving films of all time. The end of the blockbuster bothers some fans, even after more than 25 years. For the 25th anniversary of the big blockbuster, the documentary Titanic: 25 Years Later with James Cameron was produced for US television. There should be the door debate in the water tank with two stuntmen and four different scenarios. Good Morning America already gave a glimpse of the National Geographic documentary.

Among other things, they are testing whether both Rose and Jack could have held on to the door, which would have exposed both of them to the ice-cold water. A variant with a life jacket seems to be the most promising for Cameron: “Jack could have survived, but there are a lot of variables“, according to the director.

Meanwhile, the need for Jack’s sacrifice has been disproved by YouTube duo MythBusters. Cameron emphasizes, however, that the scientific probability of Jack’s survival is completely irrelevant to the story of the film.

“He had to die. It’s a film about love and sacrifice and mortality. Love is measured by its sacrifice.“
