Even before release, Hogwarts Legacy was one of the most controversial games to be released in 2023. The game has been available since February 10th and the reviews on Steam are almost exclusively positive.
Even before the official release, opponents had tried to defame the game with false tags on Steam. Here Valve, the operator behind Steam, switched off the tag function to prevent worse things from happening.
The background to the great controversy surrounding Hogwarts Legacy is the ongoing discussion about Harry Potter author JK Rowling.
Critics see her as a “transphobic, radical feminist” – Rowling bitingly defends herself against this accusation, the situation has been escalating for months.
Thanks to early access, some have been able to play the game on PC and Steam since February 7, 2023, for everyone else the release officially started on February 10. The reactions are overwhelming.

Is there any criticism? Yes, the performance of the PC version is sometimes very bad and there are severe frame drops. Some have stated that a game for release and for 70 euros should not have to face such problems.
We also tested the performance in the editorial office and found that ray tracing with AMD and Nvidia cards in particular is a severe performance killer. If you have problems, turn off ray tracing features under the game options. Another tip is to turn on DLSS (Nvidia) or FSR 2.0 (AMD). In particular, the change from FSR 1.0 to 2.0 gave us a performance boost again.
The performance also looks much better on the PS5, and the game also runs fairly stable on the Steam Deck at around 50 FPS.
