What is the list of demonstrations on February 11?

On the interactive map of the CFDT, there are about sixty appointments. Demonstrations have been scheduled this Saturday in Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Bordeaux and Lille.

The event organized in Paris this Saturday, February 11, 2023 will start from Republic Square. The procession is scheduled to start at 13 hourstowards the national square around 7 p.m., passing by Boulevard Voltaire, warned the police headquarters in a communicated.

The administration warns that traffic will be “disturbed in the center and east of Paris”. A road system will be set up around the event, particularly at the level of boulevards Voltaire, Beaumarchais, Diderot, rue de Lyon, avenue Daumesnil, as well as around the places de la République, Bastille and Nation.

There should be no dispute between the two events that take place on the same day in Nice: the carnival and the February 11 demonstration against the pension reform. This mobilization against the reform will not go through Place Masséna in Nice, the place where the carnival opens (from February 10 to February 26). “The prefect asked the organizers to take into account the traffic and security constraints of the inter-union demonstration and the carnival festivities” indicated the prefecture to BFM Nice Côte d’Azur.

Thus, as indicated Nice morning the procession of demonstrators against the reform will leave Place Garibaldi at 11 a.m. to reach the SNCF station via rue Defly, rue de l’Hôtel des Postes, Jean-Médecin, and Avenue Tiers.

The route of the procession in Bordeaux

Bordeaux residents will meet at 2 p.m. at Place de la Bourse. The procession will continue its march on the Quai Richelieu, then cross the Cours Alsace-et-Lorraine before joining the Cours Georges-Clemenceau, then passing through the Rue Esprit-des-Lois before returning to the starting point.

The route of the event in Lyon

The procession will start at 2 p.m., this time from Brotteaux and having as its terminus Place Lazare at Gratte-Ciel, informed the local media. Lyon-Capital. The demonstrators will pass by the Cours Emile Zola then by the Rue Racine to reach the terminus.

The route of the procession in Toulouse

The procession will leave in the morning at 10.30 a.m. at François Verdier. As Actu-Toulouse reports, the demonstrators will take the main boulevards, then pass by Jean-Jaurès, and Place Jeanne-d’Arc, Compans-Caffarelli, will cross the Pont des Catalans with Saint-Cyprien as their terminus.

The course of the event in Nantes

As reported by the site News-Nantes, the route of the procession should not be different from the four previous mobilizations. At 2 p.m. the demonstrators will leave the water mirror crossing rue Henri IV, the quai Ceineray and the course of the 50 hostages, the quai de Turenne and quai de la Fosse and will cross the Anne-de-Bretagne bridge with the terminus the Ships on the island of Nantes.

Demonstrations, but no strike?

Initially, the intersyndicale called for a day of strikes and demonstrations on February 11. But afterwards, the idea of favoring demonstrations took precedence over the desire to lead a new strike. And for good reason: is it wise to disrupt the daily life of the French during the weekend, what is more during the first crossover of the school holidays? The unions have more to lose than to gain on a strike in the middle of the weekend when demonstrations only have advantages for their fight. Some sectors have already decided. At the SNCF, the inter-union has given up a strike but invites all employees and more broadly all those who can to join the processions.

On the side of the RATP, the discourse is quite different. At the beginning of February, the inter-union CGT, UNSA, CFE-CGC had called “all the agents of the company to continue and amplify the mobilization by the strike on Saturday February 11.” The metro, RER A and B, trams and buses could therefore experience major disruptions in Paris on Saturday.
