Henk has been with the Red Cross for 57 years. A few years later, he took his wife Adrie into volunteer work. She has served for 33 years. They have done various things, such as being ready at walking marches or at activities of sports associations. But also at the annual Timmerdorp, a week in Leerdam in which children work with hammers and nails. “Well then you already know what’s going to happen,” says Henk, “hit the thumb.”
