Erik Karlsson’s new super note – is the first in 33(!) years to succeed and the fourth ever in the NHL

Another loss for the Sharks.
But Erik Karlsson continues to dominate.
After another point tonight, the Swede reaches a mighty milestone – as the best player in 33(!) years.

The season has not been at all what the San Jose Sharks had hoped for. Just as usual in recent years, the team is far from playoff places, and it is already clear that there will be no continuation for Karlsson in the playoffs, as long as he does not change teams sometime in the next month.

New score tonight

And there is no lack of direct interest in the Swede, because he is not exactly having a mediocre season. Erik Karlsson is looking like his old self again after having a rough few years, and in terms of point production from the backs, nobody is even close to being a threat. The Swede completely dominates – and last night he reached a mighty milestone.

It was, as expected, a loss for the Sharks against the Florida Panthers, but Erik Karlsson was noted for an assist in the game, which means he has now reached 70 points. 70 points means a completely superior lead in the slopes’ scoring, but also an almighty milestone. Karlsson only needed 53 games to get there, which puts him in illustrious company to say the least.

First in 33 years

Erik Karlsson is the fastest defenseman to reach 70 points in the NHL in 33(!) years. And the fact is that only three players in NHL history have reached as many points as quickly as Karlsson has now done. The players in question are Bobby Orr, Paul Coffey and Denis Potvin, in other words, no dozen players right away… Karlsson’s NHL scoring record from before is 82 points, and it will blow the world away given that he has 29 games left to play this season .

Erik Karlsson is, together with Rasmus Dahlin, a huge favorite to win the Norris Trophy, as the world’s best defender, after the season. In recent months, Karlsson has been rumored to want to play in a team that has a chance at the title. So far there has been talk of teams like the Edmonton Oilers and Toronto Maple Leafs.
