Part of the city council met today to discuss a rough sketch for the future of Polder Rijnenburg. It was a technical and difficult to follow debate in the committee about a so-called ‘trailer’ for the Spatial Strategy Utrecht 2040 (RSU2040). The RSU sets out the city’s plans for the coming decades. Where should be built, what should nature remain, and what facilities such as public transport are needed? That RSU was set for last year’s elections. The previous council thought that no construction should take place in Rijnenburg. The new board wants that, so there has to be a change to the RSU, and that has been arranged in that trailer.
