Miss injured woman in apartment fire

An injured woman was missed by the emergency services in connection with a fire last week in Västerbotten, Västerbottens-Kuriren reports.
At 18.23, the emergency services announced that a man – who died in the fire – had been found and that the apartment had been searched. But the injured woman was reportedly found more than an hour later.
– I can agree that I also think it has taken an unusually long time before you find person number two, says the rescue manager to the newspaper.
The woman is still being treated for her injuries at the University Hospital in Uppsala. (TT)

Law school even for the youngest
The government wants schools to be able to offer preparatory school also for middle and primary school pupils who need it. Law school for the youngest students was mentioned in the Tidö agreement and an extra 100 million kroner was set aside.
Now the government has also changed the regulation so that schools can apply for state grants for teaching the youngest children during summer and other holidays.
Up until now, school administrators have been able to apply for state grants for law schools for sixth graders and older students. (TT)
Explains state of emergency in South Africa
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has declared the country in a state of national emergency in an attempt to take command of the looming electricity crisis.
South Africa has for years been plagued by blackouts and widespread blackouts due to corruption, lack of infrastructure and aging power plants, and the problems are increasing.
– We are therefore declaring a national state of emergency to respond to the electricity crisis and its effects, Ramaphosa said on Thursday in his annual speech. (TT)
Car overturned – ambulance on scene
At 11.23 p.m. there was an alarm that a car had overturned in Sundbyberg north of Stockholm.
Two people were in the car but were able to get out themselves.
The extent of the damage is unclear, but an ambulance is on the scene.
Police chase on E4 ended in a pile of stones
A car chase began on the E4 near Älvkarleby earlier this evening.
The police patrol noticed a suspicious motorist driving north on the road. Then the driver increased the speed.
The chase continued all the way to Gävle’s southern entrance, where the motorist turned off the E4.
Then the chase ended in a pile of rocks – and the car had to be towed from the scene.
The driver, a man in his 30s, has been arrested on suspicion of gross negligence in traffic, for not having stopped at a policeman’s signal, drunk driving and drug offences.
WHO head on his way to Syria
Tedros Ghebreyesus, head of the World Health Organization, WHO, writes on Twitter that he is on his way to Syria.
The organization supports necessary medical care in the areas hit hard by the earthquake disaster.
At the time of writing, over 20,500 people in Turkey and Syria have been confirmed dead in the earthquake.
One to hospital after armed shop robbery
A masked person, armed with a stabbing weapon, has robbed a shop in Farsta in southern Stockholm.
The police received the alarm at 21.05.
A man from the staff was stabbed in the upper body and was taken by ambulance to hospital.
He should not be seriously injured.
The police are investigating the incident as attempted aggravated robbery and aggravated assault.
Just before 8 p.m., another man was stabbed in nearby Skogås.
– We are looking into whether the events are connected, says police spokesperson Towe Hägg.
Man stabbed
At around 20:40 the police were alerted about an injured person in Skogås, south of Stockholm.
“In the investigative work that has been done, it has emerged that there are two crime victims, where one was injured by a stabbing weapon. Both crime victims are men and they are in their 20s and 30s,” the police write on their website.
At first it was written that it was a suspected attempted murder.
Later they changed their minds.
Now it’s about attempted aggravated robbery.
Man found unconscious – life-threatening injuries
A man has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being found unconscious outside in Gothenburg.
The police write that the man has very likely fallen from a great height, which could be from a window in an adjacent house.
An investigation into attempted murder or manslaughter has been launched as it cannot be ruled out that he was pushed out of the house.
The site has been blocked off.

Former US President Donald Trump appears to be back on Facebook, reports Reuters.
After the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021, Trump was banned from Facebook and a number of other social media platforms, writes the Norwegian Dagbladet.
Last month, Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram, announced that the company wanted to reactivate Trump’s accounts.
When Dagbladet searches Trump’s account, it comes up as active, but nothing has been written to the account since January 6, 2021.
No Swedish Gripen to Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appealed to Sweden for Gripenplan.
But no Gripen planes are relevant for the Swedish part at the moment, says Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson to TT.
– There are always limits in war before you actually become part of the war, he says,
Kristersson further says that Sweden itself has a great need for the Jas 39 Gripen.
– We have a very sharp air force, but it is not a large air force. That is the strongest reason.
According to the Prime Minister, the educational effort and the risk that the war would involve more countries than Ukraine weigh heavily.

Ukrainian delegation: Thank you Sweden – but we need more help
A Ukrainian delegation is now in Sweden to meet government and parliamentary representatives, but above all the visit is part of a campaign that advocates Ukraine’s European integration, writes SvD.
– We want to thank Sweden’s population and government for all the support. At the same time, we want to ask for more help. It is crucial for us to have more material and support in the form of knowledge and medical resources, says Olga Stefanyshyna, a Ukrainian member of parliament, to the newspaper.
The delegation’s hope is to continue strengthening cooperation with Europe and for Ukraine to become a member of the EU.

Why is it so important to write about how many people died in the earthquake? Is it to understand the breadth? Now it seems most likely that there will be a “record breaking” in deaths. Doesn’t feel quite right.

It appears that survivors are still being dug out – despite the critical 72 hour mark being passed.
This is what a rescue worker in the Turkish province of Hatay, who Sky News spoke to, says:
– These buildings have collapsed in a way that has left many voids where it is possible to survive. And considering the time when this happened, many have been wrapped in bedding and the like.
– While the people found yesterday were very dehydrated and chilled, due to the extremely cold conditions, they are still alive.
