The police have dropped the preliminary investigation into work environment violations after the escape at Furuvik in December, writes TT.
The Work Environment Agency announced yesterday that they do not recommend that any charges be brought against the park’s management.
– We cannot see that the employer’s responsibility has broken in terms of the direct causal link to the incident. Based on that, the case is closed, says police investigator Maria Lorichs to TT.
On December 14, five chimpanzees escaped from their enclosure in the monkey house at Furuviksparken. Four of them were shot dead. Here you can read more.

Lawyer on exemption Milad: “Don’t know if they are friends or enemies”

Big trade strike in Finland
An extensive strike in the trade sector is ongoing from today in Finland, reports Swedish EPN.
The strike covers around 160 supermarkets and the public has been urged not to hoard food.
The service union PAM is demanding a salary increase of just over SEK 2,200.
The strike will last until Saturday morning and will affect 16,000 trade employees. A second strike warning next week applies to all supermarkets in several retail chains across Finland.
Man hit by truck
A 65-year-old man has been taken to hospital after being hit by a truck at Sannegården in Gothenburg.
According to the police, the man suffered head injuries and was bleeding.
The truck driver, a 55-year-old man, is suspected of negligence in traffic.
Fire in barn
A fire has broken out in a barn in Ovanåker municipality. It is burning heavily and the fire has spread to an adjacent barn.
There is no risk of the fire spreading to the farm’s residential building, the police say. No one was injured in connection with the fire.
Excluded top lawyer may continue in big case
Kristianstad district court paused a hearing regarding a major drug case.
The background is that one of the defenders in the case is the lawyer Gabriel Barsoum, who was recently expelled from the Bar Association after Aftonbladet’s review.
Now the district court has decided that Barsoum may continue as a defense attorney at the main hearing.
The case concerns a particularly serious drug crime in which a total of 15 people are accused.
Aftonbladet has previously revealed how the lawyer repeatedly provided incorrect information to the courts – and received too much money.

Daniel Barr new director general of FI

Now it is clear that Daniel Barr will be the new Director General of the Financial Supervisory Authority. This was announced by Minister of Financial Markets Niklas Wykman at a press conference.
He succeeds Erik Thedéen, who left the post last year to become the new governor of the Riksbank.
Daniel Barr has been director general at the Swedish Pensions Agency since 2018.
– I am very honored and happy about this assignment. One of my dream jobs, he says at the press conference.
Pepsi raised prices despite big profit
Recently, soft drink giant Pepsi has raised its prices on soft drinks and snacks. At the same time, the company’s profit has increased by more than 10 percent, TT reports.
Pepsi’s result for the fourth quarter was 28 billion dollars, equivalent to 290 billion kroner. That was significantly better than the expected result of $26.8 billion, according to the news agency.
Correctional officers are punished – wore a colorful cap
A correctional officer at a prison in Stockholm County is punished.
The reason is that he was wearing his own jeans and a colorful cap at work, writes the news agency Siren.
“When NN arrived (..) he was wearing a uniform shirt, private jeans and a colorful cap,” the decision of the Personnel Responsibility Board states.
The man had thus broken the guidelines of the Correctional Service and receives a disciplinary penalty of salary deduction.
The man himself has defended himself by saying that he took off his cap when the work shift began.
Fire in residential building
There is a fire in a residential building in Tegnerlunden in Örebro. According to the police, it must be burning with open flames.
The emergency services and the police are on the scene.
– The emergency services have started their extinguishing work, says Anders Dahlman, press spokesperson for the police.
There is currently no information on whether there were any people in the home.
Several dead in explosion
At least five people have died and ten are missing after an explosion in an apartment building in Novosibirsk in southern Siberia, TT reports.
According to the Russian authorities, it is a gas explosion.
Several children are said to have been in the building at the time of the explosion. Of which of the dead is a two-year-old boy. Nine injured people have been taken to hospital, Novosibirsk Governor Andrey Travnikov announced.
Aggravated residential robbery – 75-year-old resident tied up
During the morning, two men, with weapon-like objects, forced their way into a 75-year-old man’s home in Alvesta.
According to the police, the men, who were masked with mouth guards, tied up the 75-year-old while they searched the home. The suspects took both cash and bank cards.
The men are now suspected of aggravated robbery, aggravated unlawful threat, aggravated weapons offense and unlawful deprivation of liberty.
