Alibi.com 2, sequel to the hit comedy, was released in theaters this Wednesday, February 8, 2023. What did film critics think?
Fifi’s band signs its return to the cinema. On the program for fans, the sequel to Alibi.com, the first episode released in 2017. Six years later, Greg (Philippe Lacheau) decides to reassemble his agency of lies when his fiancée, Flo, asks to meet her parents. He then prefers to use fake parents rather than reveal that his father is a con man and his mother a former actress of charming films. Then follow new comic twists to the delight of fans of the genre. But is Alibi.com 2 successful? The film received a 3.2/5 star rating on Allociné from the press, out of 13 titles cited.
Among the conquered, we can cite Le Parisien, which salutes the generosity of the actors and the “situations which mix visual gags, absurdity and even black humor”. 20 minutes appreciates for its part “the action staged with meticulous care”, while Ouest France admits it: “it’s big, sometimes very big … but we laugh”. And the director manages to maintain the rhythm of his comedy without weakening.” The spectators should however expect a humor “schoolboy, vulgar as it should be, unpretentious and terribly effective” warns Le Journal du Dimanche. Conversely, the specialized magazine Première is very far from being convinced , giving it a score of 1/5: “A small vintage ‘Lacheau movie’, not ashamed but once again designed for a very wide audience”, notes the media. However, fans of the Fifi band should be delighted by Alibi .com 2.
Synopsis – After closing his agency, Greg’s life became too quiet. But when he decides to propose to Flo, he must introduce his parents, one of whom is a con man, and the other a former glamor movie actress. He then decides to reopen his agency to find fake parents who are presentable.
