The strong earthquakes in Turkey and Syria have claimed thousands of lives and led to enormous devastation.
Over 11,000 have died, while the death toll is expected to rise as thousands of people are still trapped among the ethnic masses.
The area in Syria was hard hit even before the earthquake due to extreme weather conditions and civil war. Which makes it extra difficult for aid, such as trucks with blankets and food, to get through the terrain.
– Totally elusive, says Johanna Lönn, at the Swedish Red Cross, which is in Damascus in Syria.
– The most difficult thing now that we are starting to approach the 72 hour time, is the hopelessness that is starting to appear in people, that they should find their loved ones in life, she continues.
