The police have banned the burning of the Koran in front of the Turkish embassy in Stockholm, official sources tell the Swedish Broadcasting Corporation for SVT (you switch to another service).
According to SVT, the Stockholm police talked with the Swedish security police Säpo and considered that public order and safety cannot be guaranteed if the demonstration is organized.
The person who applied for the permit wanted to organize a demonstration in which the Koran would be burned on Thursday afternoon.
Turkey’s attitude towards Sweden’s NATO membership has become even more reserved after a doll representing Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was hung in front of the Stockholm City Hall. Later a far-right Rasmus Paludan burned the Koran in his demonstration.
