A lot has happened in the teams in the League of Legends scene during the winter break. So, Team Fnatic has been trying to adjust their roster for the upcoming season. But despite new players, they completely embarrassed themselves. Players are dismayed and are finally speaking up.
How did the Winter Split go for Fnatic? The dream of a successful star team at Fnatic already burst with the exit before the group phase at the beginning of the year. The team was restructured at the end of 2022. She brought in pro players Martin “Wunder” Nordahl Hansen and Carl Martin Erik “Rekkles” Larsson.
The old botlane was replaced and the then supporter Zdravets “Hylissang” Iliev Galabov was visibly surprised by the decision. He said he wasn’t thinking of being replaced, especially when paired with Upset (via reddit). Fnatic benched Germany’s Elias “Upset” Lipp and hoped for much success with Rekkles as ADC and Wunder on the top lane.
However, the team failed to perform well throughout the day. They were only able to win against Excel and KOI. But they had the chance last weekend to maybe make it into the group stage after all.
They didn’t take advantage of the opportunity and were kicked out for the winter season. The players are visibly disappointed with themselves and their performance in the team. They took to social media channels and apologized for the way they played.
Season 13 has started in League of Legends and brings with it a new cinematic trailer:
The player change does not give good results
Rekkles in particular was hit hard: In 2021, the ADC decided to play at G2 and win the world title there. But the team was also kicked out of the tournament in the qualification for the Worlds. After that, the Swede settled down in the French league.
With Fnatic he wanted to start again and the fans were thrilled. However, after just a few days into the Winter Split, they have disappointed fans. NoWay summarizes the whole thing very briefly:
The pros are also in tears: The players themselves have not been heard from since the start of the season. But Rekkles couldn’t help but speak up. So he apologized on Twitter with 2 videos about his poor performance and promised improvement.
As you can see in the video, the whole issue is very close to his heart and he is visibly moved to tears. Fnatic’s ADC says he couldn’t deliver and admits improvement. Despite being known for his solid playstyle, he hasn’t been able to find himself in the new meta so far.
Currently you can even see the strong ADC champions on the support role. Rekkles had never shown himself with such a style of play before. He always tends to play the usual, solid compositions. What will change for the team now, or whether the second ADC Elias “Upset” Lipp will be in the running for the spring season is still unclear.
Which player do you see more in the ADC role and how will Fnatic fare in the next split? Tell us in the comments.
