The 42-year-old world-renowned conductor is currently artistic director of both the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Simón Bolívar Orchestra in his home country, where he has also made a name for himself for his work with the El Sistema cultural school. He is also music director of the Paris Opera.
To a Swedish audience, Gustavo Dudamel is best known for his time as artistic director of the Gothenburg Symphony between 2007 and 2012. Then he was so successful that he was named Gothenburg citizen of the year in 2010.
