As the electricity bill soared, Gävle resident Lena Schmidt began to turn off the lights at home. In the end, she only had a single LED light on in the entire apartment, but the bill passed.
– I saved and saved and saved but still the electricity bills were sky high, says Lena Schmidt.
Then she got a tip to turn off her electricity and look at the electricity meter – which continued to spin. Then it dawned on her that something wasn’t right.
What did the neighbor say?
– Not so much, because the neighbor was probably quite afraid of being liable for repayment, but that is not the case, says Lena Schmidt.
Instead, she should have been compensated by her electricity company, Gävle energi.
– They claim to have paid out correctly, but I can’t know that, says Lena Schmidt.
Gävle energy tells The worker’s sheet that they regret what happened and that there are only protocols that go back eight years to when the current electricity meter was installed. Before that, another company was responsible for the electricity.
