There is still a desperate battle against the clock for rescue workers in Turkey and Syria searching for survivors after yesterday’s earthquake.
Over 5,000 people have been confirmed dead – but the number is expected to rise even more. The many tens of thousands who became homeless when thousands of houses collapsed in the earthquakes were forced to spend the night outdoors in the winter cold.
– Here behind me, the rescue work is still going on, you don’t know how many people are left under the racial masses, says TV4 Nyheternas reporter Filip Jacobsson on the spot in the city of Diyarbakir.
The city is part of the Kurdish part of Turkey, in the city hundreds of people have died and around 800 have been injured.
– We met a woman here who still has relatives in the racial masses and she was clearly out of control and completely shocked. Many people here are very, very concerned, says Filip Jacobsson.
