Via its embassy in Stockholm, the US urges its citizens in Sweden to be careful in public places.

The advice is to avoid large gatherings, keep a low profile, be aware of your surroundings, follow local media updates, and check the embassy’s website for the latest warnings and messages.

“US citizens are advised to exercise caution when going to public places frequented by large numbers of people. Gathering places such as for praying can be targets. Be careful when you are in or near any diplomatic facilities,” the embassy writes on the website.

The call can be seen in the light of the protests after the Koran burning at the Turkish embassy and the hanging Erdogan doll.

– All countries make their own threat assessments and have their own classifications. In the case of the United States, we refer to them. As for our assessment of the terror threat level, it remains at an elevated level, a third on a five-point scale, says Security Police spokesperson Adam Samara to Aftonbladet.
