The Portuguese Carlos Queiroz takes over from the Spaniard Félix Sánchez.
Queiroz managed Iran during the World Cup, not exactly an easy job due to the political turmoil in the country. He has previously been responsible for Iran in the 2014 and 2018 World Cups.
The track record also includes national team captaincy assignments in Portugal, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, Colombia and Egypt. He has also coached Real Madrid and was assistant to Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.
