FS, agreements signed with ITA and the Lufthansa Group

FS agreements signed with ITA and the Lufthansa Group

(Finance) – An increasingly effective integration between airplane And train, with a joint offer that will aim to allow the purchase of air and train tickets in a single solution. These are some of the goals of the two Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that the FS group Italiane, led by CEO Luigi Ferraris, signed today, February 3, with Ita Airways and with the Lufthansa Group which, in addition to the German company, also involves all its subsidiaries, such as Austrian Airlines and Air Dolomiti.

As we read on FS News, these are two MoUs that constitute the prerequisite for achieving important ones partnerships commercial and operational, with the aim of offering the customer integrated mobility solutions and an agile travel experience, which makes it possible to comfortably use the two carriers, rail and air, and can also benefit for this purpose from platforms digital shared. In essence, it is a question of creating the conditions to best satisfy the different needs of all passengers, both those who travel for tourism and those who do it for business, work or family reasons. The two documents provide not only the possibility of integrated offers for the passenger, but also to define combined loyalty programs.

“These two agreements are for the FS Group – said the CEO Louis Ferraris – are part of a broader strategy of collaborations and partnerships, with other collective and shared mobility operators, consistent with the objectives of our 2022-2031 Business Plan”.

An important step forward, in short, towards theintermodality on a large scale. Already in March 2022, the FS Group had signed an agreement with Rome airports for greater integration of timetables and connections to and from Rome Fiumicino airport, which had the objective of paving the way for individual agreements with airlines to integrate the reciprocal sales and distribution systems and to carry out the operations of check-in directly at the railway stations.

Among other things, a new Frecciarossa connection between Naples and Fiumicino airport was launched last July, and the existing services were expanded, again with the Frecce trains, to Venice, Padua, Bologna, Florence and Rome.
