The accident happened at 11 o’clock on Friday morning. Three people were traveling in the car. At the time of the collision, the train must have been traveling at a speed of 30 kilometers per hour, according to the officer on duty at the Östra Götaland Rescue Service.

The train had time to brake before the collision, according to the rescue service.

The emergency services left the scene at 12 noon and the accident will affect train traffic between Linköping and Västervik. There is currently no forecast for when the trains can run as usual.

Police patrol on site will now work to investigate what has happened, and among other things talk to people who can give a picture of the course of events.
