At 300, Zack Snyder created one of the most celebrated comic book movies ever. Especially that one visually stunning stylewith which the director brought most of the images from Frank Miller’s template 1:1 onto the screen, has become a trademark.
If you want to watch 300 again, you can watch the blockbuster together with the sequel 300: Rise Of An Empire that will be broadcast afterwards on Friday from 10:20 p.m. on ProSieben. The powerful fantasy action has a true backgroundbut which is heavily neglected.

300 and its sequel turn history into fantasy action spectacles
The story of Zack Snyder’s film and Frank Miller’s original is based on the real one Battle of Thermopylae. Here it came 480 BC. at the beginning of the Second Persian War to fight for the narrow passage between Greek warriors and the Persian superiority under King Xerxes I.
In addition to this historical event, the background to the story of Miller’s comic and Snyder’s adaptation is secondary. Instead, author and director scatter Fantasy elements and overstylized action into action to turn 300 into an aestheticized painting.
The sequel 300: Rise of an Empire is very similar. The sequel, this time directed by Noam Murro instead of Zack Snyder, takes the historical one Naval Battle of Artemision as a rolemodel. At that time, this took place parallel to the Battle of Thermopylae and was fought with fleets on the high seas. In the film, the real story is again exaggerated with fictitious elements to create an action spectacle that is stylistically based on Snyder’s style from the predecessor.
