In FIFA 23 you can improve your Ultimate Team with players from the transfer market. But top cards are expensive – even more so if you play on PC.
The TOTY event is currently running in FIFA 23, which will be replaced by the Future Stars event on Friday.
In particular, the TOTY, or “Team of the Year”, is known for bringing extremely strong, but also extremely rare and expensive cards into play.
Drawing such a card is damn unlikely, as some streamers on Twitch have proven. That’s why some players try to buy top cards on the transfer market.
But even that is not easy. Because you have to get the necessary coins for a TOTY card first. It’s possible through skillful trading in FIFA 23 or powerful rewards, but it’s difficult and takes time.
And especially on the PC you sometimes need significantly more coins than on the consoles.
Players frustrated with high TOTY prizes on PC in FIFA 23
What annoys players? In the FUT subreddit, user “fawz97” shared a post showing the prices of current TOTY players on PC.
The TOTY is generally very expensive, even on consoles – but on the PC transfer market the whole thing has another dimension. We have collected a few examples of the futbin portal, which documents current transfer market prices:
This does not only affect TOTY cards, but also other players. Al-Owairan’s popular hero card costs 730,000 coins on console and 918,000 coins on PC. The normal Mbappé card is 822,000 (console) or 989,000 coins (PC).
For less popular cards, the prices are converging. But especially with top players, the differences are very noticeable, and that frustrates some players on the PC.
However, it is precisely the differences among top players that are difficult to compensate for, if one sometimes speaks of millions of coins.
What is the problem? One of the main problems with the PC transfer market is that it is isolated. The PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S share a transfer market, and Stadia was there too.
The PC, on the other hand, has an individual transfer market, as does the Switch. This probably results in fewer users and thus also offers on the transfer market than in comparison to consoles.
Overall, the PC has actually taken a step forward when it comes to FIFA, technically it has caught up with the NextGen consoles. At the same time, there was early trouble for the PC version because there were errors around the release.
