IN Renée’s bridge tells the journalist and author Carina Bergfeldt about the relationship with love Jesper Zølck, who is a Danish journalist. They met in Washington and it clicked immediately.
– I saw a guy who was the most handsome thing I’ve seen in my entire life, she says in the program.
Then they got together
They met outside through a friend and talked non-stop for an hour and a half. Shortly thereafter, she broke up with her then-boyfriend.
But it took eight months before she plucked up the courage and contacted Jesper, whom she had not been able to forget. Once they met again at the airport, it was clear they had something special from the first hug.
– Then it was us, she says.
Tells about the destructive relationships
After several destructive relationships, it was not easy to trust that Jesper would not leave her, she tells the program. A guy she was with as a 17-year-old, for example, gave her roses of different colors, depending on how much she “pleased” him.
– Once I started crying because I got a pink rose, she says and adds:
– I never worked my way up to a red rose.
Dad’s mean words
Her fear of being abandoned already started with her father who told her when she was young: “No one will ever put up with you because you have a disgusting personality”.
– Since then, I have been waiting for all relationships to end, she tells Renée Nyberg openly.
Text her every morning
After several relationships with men who were not kind to her, she still gets teary-eyed when Jesper does something nice. When she opened up to Jesper about her past, he came up with an idea to reduce her anxiety.
Every morning that they are not together, he sends a text at 06:00 in the morning with the words: “I’m here, I love you, I’m staying”.
– He works with my monsters in my head instead of trying to push them away. Because it doesn’t work, she says in the program.
Five years later, he still sends the same text every morning they’re not together.
