“I like being alone…”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Three weeks until the WC.
Then William Poromaa chooses to ignore just about everyone.
– I like being by myself, he says.

The WC is fast approaching, and the Swedish stars all have their own special preparations to come to the championship in the best shape possible. Many choose to compete in the World Cup in Toblach, but many also choose to go into heavier training at home in Sweden.

Drastic decision

But William Poromaa does neither nor. The Swede seems to be in great shape before the WC and on Friday he took the first podium of the season during the World Cup competition in France. Two days later, Poromaa was on the podium again, and he suddenly sailed up as a real medal hope for Sweden in the WC, which starts on February 22.

But Poromaa is not like everyone else when it comes to preparing for the championship. Instead, he makes a drastic decision and goes to Livigno, Italy, where he will prepare for the championship.

– I am there and train all the way up to the championship. Now the full focus is on the WC, he tells Expressen.

“Likes to be alone”

William Poromaa also chooses to make the trip completely alone, apart from two days where father Larry Poromaa (legendary skier) is with him.

– I like being by myself, so there is no danger. I have my video game, says William Poromaa.

The reason Poromaa is in Italy is that he likes the training at high altitude.

– I want to go up high. I think it’s the best thing for me in the run up to the WC. There, it responds well to training for me, he says.
