The sports world has lost yet another profile.
Former world champion Kyle Smaine has died.
He was only 31 years old and died in a tragic accident, reports Reuters.
The biggest moment of his career came in 2015 when he won WC gold in halfpipe during the championship in Kreischberg, Austria. But now the terrible thing has happened to the freestyle skater Kyle Smaine.

Kyle Smaine turned 31 years old and is now greatly mourned. The professional skier Adam U was one of the survivors during the avalanche and miraculously survived.
“Yesterday was my absolute worst nightmare. It would be the last day of the trip, I was tired and went down to our base. But Kyle and Adam chose to get up and go again,” writes the photographer Gran Gunderson on Instagram.
“Adam was buried one and a half meters under the snow for 25 minutes and was unharmed. It’s a miracle. Kyle was thrown 50 meters by the air pressure and buried dead,” he writes.

Wife’s grief
The US Freestyle National Team also confirmed the death on social media and mourned their friend and colleague.

Smaine’s wife Jenna mourns her late husband and talks openly about her grief on social media.
“My dear husband and my whole world. I am so grateful to have married you and to have you in my life. You loved skiing more than anyone I’ve ever met. I met you on a trip to New Zealand in 2010 and who would have thought we would be married 13 years later? These are the best years of my life,” she writes in an emotional post on Instagram.
