“Turned into Amumu”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

In 2019, the Chinese team FunPlus Phoenix won the world championship in League of Legends against the Europeans from G2 in the final: the outstanding players of the tournament were midlaner Doinb and his brilliant partner in the jungle: Tian. In 2023 there is apparently a really bad atmosphere between the legendary world champion duo.

Who are the two?

  • The South Korean Doinb (26) was the star of the 2019 World Cup. He was considered a “super carry”, could play everything in the midlane and dominated the tournament. He plays unconventionally, imaginatively, always finds an ingenious solution to every problem. Before the tournament only experts knew his name, after the tournament he looked like the new mega star in LoL.
  • The jungler Tian (22) is significantly younger than Doinb, he was his partner in the jungle: Depending on the situation, he either prepared kills or got the killing blow himself. Tian played such an outstanding Worlds – especially with Lee Sin – that he was voted MVP of the Worlds Finals.
  • It looked like the two could usher in an era in LoL as a brilliant mid-jungle duo.

Tian became the LoL World Champion out of nowhere – career started with a dream

How did that go? It stayed with the one strong year. Doinb was voted MVP in China in 2021, but the two were no longer able to win major titles.

Both played for FunPlus Phoenix for 2 more years after the 2019 World Cup victory, but things didn’t go well anymore:

  • In 2020 you missed the qualification for the Worlds
  • In 2021 you were kicked out in the group phase against DWG KIA, Cloud 9 and Rogue – a disgrace
  • The team broke up. Before 2022, Doinb moved to LNG Esports, Tian went to Top Esports.

The Life of Faker – That’s why he’s a living legend

Tian unfollowed Doinb on social media

What’s the dispute now? Tian made a name for himself with a series of social media posts on January 26:

  • He posted “I don’t need emotions” when his girlfriend had just hidden all the posts on Weibo. The fans knew something was up.
  • Eventually, Tian revealed he broke up with his girlfriend after finding out she was in a relationship with a friend of Tian’s. She had kept this relationship secret from him, despite repeated inquiries.
  • The girlfriend then admitted to hiding the relationship from Tian, who, although childish at times, is basically a “really good and loyal person”.
  • In the wake of this action, Tian apparently decided to clean up his ties and “unfollowed” a number of people on social media, including his early teammate Doinb and his wife, Umi.

That was the picture of Worlds 2019: The wife of star midlaner Doinb is rooting for her husband.

Doinb compares Tian to crying mummy Amumu

How did Doinb react now? The world champion midlaner was apparently pissed off at being blacklisted by Tian. He had nothing to do with the situation at all.

    Doinb wrote:

It’s hard to be a man’s friend or teammate when he blacklists you for no reason.

But Doinb wasn’t done yet. He applied the maximum punishment and compared Tian to the crying mummy Amumu:

If you don’t talk to anyone yourself, you turn into Amumu. You can’t blame anyone, you should blame yourself. Nobody from the old “FunPlus Phoenix” crew speaks to him anymore.

Tian is said to be a terrible loser – ended Nuguri’s career

According to Doinb, Tian is a terrible loser, attacking other people’s families after losing in training matches.

Also, according to Doinb, Tian is responsible for the resignation of top laner Nuguri. Tian must apologize for this:

  • Highly talented top laner Nuguri had only played for FunPlus Phoenix for a year while still with Tian and Doinb.
  • In November 2021 he left FunPlus Phoenix and took a break.
  • In April 2022, Nuguri joined Team DWG Kia, with whom he had become World Champion in 2020, but ended his career in November 2022 after 6 months at DWG KIA.
  • A comparison with “Amumu”, the emo mummy, is not very friendly.

How does Tian react? So publicly reprimanded, Tian quickly backtracks. He said he may have been impulsive and rude because of his personal relationship issues. He shouldn’t have disturbed anyone. That is his Din, which he takes care of.

But Tian insists that he has nothing to do with Nuguri’s resignation. He never had a problem with him and never had a bad conscience. Apparently he doesn’t want to let this accusation sit on him.

Apparently no one wants to be Amumu.
