Miskokomon Wesley join Chatham Kent Health Alliance board

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance has added two familiar names to its board of directors.

Walpole Island Chief Dan Miskokomon and Jeff Wesley, a former Chatham-Kent councilor and Wallaceburg mayor, assumed their posts at the Jan. 26 board meetings. Both have previously sat on the board.

Miskokomon has held the position of chief for the First Nation off and on for 12 years since 1988. He has also had previous roles as First Nation manager for Walpole Island and Moravian of the Thames, co-manager for Munsee-Delaware Nation and economic development programs planner for Walpole Island.

The former owner of DRSKOKE: Technical, Financial and Management Consultant Services has prior work experience in engineering, drafting services, construction, building inspections, project management and environmental audits. Miskokomon also previously served on the Health Alliance’s board of directors from 2018 to 2021.

“On behalf of CKHA’s board of directors, we are delighted to welcome back Chief Miskokomon to our board. Through his storied executive and operational experience, he brings with him a wide range of management, financial, administrative and strategic planning skills,” Alan Wildeman, board chair, said in a news release.

“It is a priority of the board to attract members who bring the skills we need to ensure that we can offer guidance to the important work of CKHA administration and staff, and provide oversight on behalf of the community served by CKHA.”

Wesley has served in volunteer roles for different hospital and health care committees over the past three decades. He was a director and chair of the former Sydenham District Hospital board, a director on the Health Alliance board, a director for the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation and chair of the Save Our Sydenham Committee.

For 34 years, he served as manager of municipal relations (major projects group) at Union Gas and has practiced law at Anderson Law Group since 2018. Wesley has also been a director for Infrastructure Ontario since 2019.

“In addition to recently joining our Building Community Advisory Committee to inform the next stage of planning and design for the Wallaceburg Site, we are pleased to now welcome Mr. Wesley to our board of directors,” Wildeman said.

“Mr. Wesley has an extensive track-record of serving the Wallaceburg area and working with multiple stakeholders and community groups. His skills and knowledge will be a great addition to our board and guiding CKHA in its delivery of safe, high-quality care.”
