13:46 – Debates on the bill have started
This Monday marks the start of parliamentary debates on pension reform. Since this morning, the 69 MPs who are members of the Social Affairs Committee have been discussing the 7,000 amendments tabled by the various political groups. Several left-wing elected officials, such as François Ruffin, Sandrine Rousseau or even Alexis Corbière have already taken the opportunity to address verbal spades to the government. The examination of the text is scheduled until Wednesday evening.
12:48 – Overflows in tomorrow’s demonstrations?
An information note, which Le Parisien was able to consult, indicates that the police are informed of a risk of slippage in the Parisian demonstration on Tuesday. According to the Ministry of the Interior, there is a risk that radicalized ultra-left people who “hope to capitalize and increase their presence in the processions” could take advantage of “the substrate necessary for the commission of damages against the symbols of capitalism and acts of violence against the police”. This note adds that “the yellow vests present during the previous day of action could try to degenerate the mobilization”. Intelligence estimates that between 1,000 and 1,200 yellow vests could be present in the procession.
12:22 – 11,000 police deployed in France on Tuesday
Gérald Darmanin has announced that 11,000 police and gendarmes will be deployed throughout France to supervise the planned demonstrations against the pension reform. This is a little more than for the day of January 19 (10,000). 4,000 police forces will be totally dedicated to the procession planned for Paris.

The first strike movement of January 19 had brought together between 1 and 2 million people in France (according to the police and the unions), which is beyond the hopes of the organizers. While the executive does not intend to relent on its reform, the mobilization could be, at least, as important tomorrow.
