In Destiny 2 there has been a special Exo since Season 19, which not only combines two weapons in one, but also seems to be very versatile. We’ll show you how good the Revision Zero Pulse Rifle actually is and if it’s worth the grind.
What is this weapon? This is a powerful pulse rifle from the Häkke manufacture paired with the carbon design of an Ikelos weapon. Both components result in the Revision Zero Pulse Rifle, which can be earned during the More Than A Weapon season quest.
The rifle is given a separate quest, which can then be forged in the enclave on Mars itself. The special thing about this rifle, however, are the catalyst advantages, because there are four of them.
For this reason, with a little time and patience, a weapon can be forged according to your ideas, which can prove useful in both PvE and PvP. Our Destiny 2 author Christos Tsogos took a closer look at the weapon and shows you whether the grind for this exceptional talent is worth it at all.
Revision Zero – A useful tool, but not a monster
What can the gun do? The Pulse Rifle has inherently shield-busting projectiles that help you penetrate barrier champions’ shields.
In addition, you can charge the bar of your target acquisition with successful precision hits. This new bar ensures that you can switch to a secondary fire mode depending on the charge. This fire mode is similar to that of a Sniper with a very solid sight.
If that doesn’t impress you, you can adjust the salvos of the weapon itself while inspecting it. You can choose from:
Depending on the salvo type, you get more or less range or stability. If that’s still not enough, you can upgrade your Pulse Rifle with one of four available Catalyst Perks.
The following are available:
It all adds up to make the rifle a versatile weapon in Destiny 2. In fact, you might think it’s the most versatile gun in the entire loot shooter to date. But enough of the leaflet, what about the practice?
That’s how good the weapon is in PvE
Can the weapon convince in PvE? Well, that depends on where you want to use them. I’ve had the rifle with me in almost every PvE activity and I have to say that the Pulse Rifle didn’t blow my mind. A few things are slowing down revision zero where it could shine, including:
I felt the gun was actually powerful, especially with the secondary sniper mode that deals good damage, but I feel like Bungie is deliberately slowing down the rifle. I can recommend the rifle very well in normal strikes, dungeons, the Gambit and some raid passages, but in grandmaster activities I would prefer the “Wisher” bow.
Now let’s get into PvP.
That’s how good the weapon is in PvP
How good is the weapon in PvP? I have to say that revision zero has more of a place in PvP, but only under certain conditions. The rifle, with the right perks, can bring down enemies in just two salvos if you have the light Häkke salvo equipped.
It is better to keep your hands off the heavy salvo, as these few mistakes are forgiven and in the heat of the moment you often misplace the shots and thus lose gunfights. In addition, the Pulse Rifle is a laser and can keep up well even at very long ranges. As perks we would recommend the following:
Conclusion on revision zero: The Pulse Rifle isn’t bad, but it’s also not so good that you should immediately replace it with other high achievers. The new feature that lets you switch weapon types with the push of a button makes for cool moments of fun using Revision Zero.
However, if you want to gamble in serious activities, then only in PvP and only in selected maps with open areas. Grandmaster Raids or Dawns should be approached with a more effective toy.
That was our conclusion on revision zero. What do you think of Bungie’s experiment? Want more of these craftable exo-weapons? Do you like the rifle and do you also use it in grandmaster activities? Please leave us a comment!
