Netflix is removing the Red Faction film adaptation. But nobody should really miss it, because the reviews at the time were very negative.
Films or series about games are often controversial, because many often do not do justice to their “role model”. Other conversions of games, on the other hand, are well received. For example, the “Last of Us” series exceeds the expectations of many fans.
Now, with Red Faction: Origin, a video game adaptation from Netflix is disappearing, which many “fans” should not miss. Red Faction: Origins is leaving Netflix on February 15, 2023. Incidentally, this does not apply to Germany, because here you can no longer access Red Faction: Origins via Netflix (via jeuxvideo.com).
Film about Red Faction offers good technology, otherwise it is rated poorly
Red Faction is a first-person shooter series that first appeared in 2001. You slip into a resistance group that fights against their oppressors on Mars and later on Earth.
After game four, Red Faction: Armageddon, the series was eventually canceled by THQ after poor sales and it’s been quiet ever since. The film appeared shortly after the 4th game and tells the background of the game.
How is the film rated? Red Faction: Origins doesn’t get good reviews overall:
The effects are pretty consistent for a science fiction film. Otherwise, the story is nothing special: A family is divided and the hero has to bring his family back together. You’ve already seen that in dozens of other films.
The cast by the actors is also okay, but the whole film seems overdone. Some also explain the weak film because the budget was very low.
Other video game implementations are more likely to cause displeasure than enthusiasm among fans. The Monster Hunter: World movie not only got bad reviews, but also the video game got bad reviews:
