The today 40-year-old artist Laleh Purkarim, best known under the stage name Laleh, has had a successful music career ever since the debut single “Live Tomorrow” was released in 2006, which really took Sweden by storm.

Laleh has a boyfriend that she has kept quite secret. Her boyfriend’s name is Gustaf Thorn and works as a music producer. In SVT’s documentary about Laleh, viewers finally get to know her love better.

Laleh Family and Origin:
Laleh Purkarim was born on June 10, 1982 in Bandar-e Anazli in Iran and came to Sweden with her family when she was 10 years old.
Laleh Pourkarim’s family left Iran in August 1982, when she was just two months old. In an interview with Laleh’s mother in The Express she tells about the family’s escape.
The reason was that her father, Houshang Pourkarim, was a well-known socially committed writer, artist and newspaperman. Her mom, Atefe Waseitogether with her husband ran underground newspapers and was later a social worker and project manager in Gothenburg.
Moved from country to country
The family settled in Azerbaijan, Minsk, Berlin and Tidaholm, where they then went on to Hammarkulleni Gothenburg, where she came to study in the music program at Hvitfeldtska gymnasium.
The Pourkarim family landed in Minsk, Belarus, on the same day Laleh turned one. In the Soviet Union, the parents had to work in a factory, while Laleh learned Russian and at school she got to go to both classical concerts and the circus, Laleh says in an interview with Swedish daily newspaper.
Father’s tragic death
Laleh’s father died in a drowning accident when Laleh was only 12 years old, writes SHOAL. Her mother died in the early 2010s.
Laleh siblings
Laleh had a brother who died when they were still living in the Iran family. It is unclear if Laleh even met him as he may even have died before Laleh was born, STIM states.
Where does Laleh live?
According to The ladies World so in 2022 Laleh still lived in Los Angeles, USA, but also has a home in Sweden. She has lived in LA for over eight years.

No, Laleh has no children.
Laleh participated in the second season of the hit series “So much better” in 2011. The program also featured Eva Dahlgren, E-Type, Tomas Ledin, Lena Philipson, Timbuktu and Mikael Wiehe.
