On Friday evening, Sweden was pitted against France at the Tele2 Arena – a final in the handball World Cup was at stake.
Blågult had to play without their big star and team captain, as Jim Gottfridsson injured his hand badly in the match against Egypt, and the middle nine was also very much missing.
France quickly took command and held it throughout the game. 16-12 at half time became 31-26 when 60 minutes were over. It will thus be the French who get to play for the gold against reigning world champions Denmark on Sunday.
Sweden will have to settle for the bronze medal match against Spain.
– If you make it to the semi-finals, you can’t call it a fiasco. Sweden is one of the world’s four best teams, says TV4 Sport’s reporter Max Grinndal.
