Impossible not to know Botox, and even less its effects on wrinkles and fine lines, but it is a completely different technique – or almost – which is currently unanimous among the youngest: Baby Botox. This alternative, considered softer, would promote a more natural look, and would be popular for preventing future wrinkles. Explanations.
Criticisms and controversies have nothing to do with it, Botox is gaining ground every year, and even manages to seduce the youngest generations. Botulinum toxin injections are even today the most popular aesthetic procedure in the world, representing no less than 43% of all acts, far ahead of hyaluronic acid injections (28%), after figures presented by IMCAS at its last annual conference. Injections – all combined – are so popular that their annual growth rate is now estimated at 8.9% over the period 2019-2025. In view of the enthusiasm of the younger generations for these aesthetic procedures, the phenomenon is not about to bend.
5 billion views
Contrary to popular belief, botulinum toxin injections are not the prerogative of thirties, forties, and other fifties. On the contrary, young people – namely Generations Y and Z – are increasingly being seduced by this act of aesthetic medicine, which is also very popular with their favorite influencers. As a result, the #botox hashtag is now the source of no less than 5 billion views on TikTok. The phenomenon is such that some countries, like the United Kingdom, have banned the administration of botox and other fillers for cosmetic purposes to minors. A way of not exposing the youngest to “fake injectors”, these people not authorized to perform these injections which are prevalent precisely on social networks.
If the craze around Botox does not seem to be weakening despite these controversies, another anti-aging technique seems to have been delighting young people for several months, Baby Botox, an alternative considered to be gentler than its elder which would, as a bonus, obtain a more natural result. Again, just take a look at the Chinese social network to realize the success of this ‘new’ method: already more than 100 million views for this procedure which is in fact nothing new, and which is – again – promoted by many influencers.
Baby Botox, quesaco?
Let it be said, Baby Botox is absolutely not revolutionary since the product injected is absolutely the same as for its big brother, Botox. It is simply a matter of limiting the quantity to erase wrinkles and fine lines without having the ‘frozen’ effect that classic injections can cause – and which can set some people back. A kind of whiplash, in short, which leaves the signs of expression intact. The whole offering a much more natural rendering, fitting perfectly into the trend of the moment which consists in favoring authenticity, or in any case its illusion, over artifice.
A fortiori, this technique is preferred by those whose wrinkles are not yet installed, including 20 to 30 years, although it necessarily depends on one person to another. And some specialists even let it be known that Baby Botox could be used in prevention. This can be read on the website of the Champs-Elysées Clinic : “This technique (…) is used for the prevention of fine lines or future expression lines. It is indeed logical to think that, if the strength of an expression muscle is reduced at the age of 20 or 25, the wrinkles will not appear or will be visibly marked later.“.
Rates around 450 euros per injection
As with Botox, the results of Baby Botox would be visible a few days after the injection, and would fade after about four months. Asked by the British edition of Harper’s Bazaar, Dr. Ashwin Soni, plastic surgeon, explains: “Every patient metabolizes Botox at a different rate, so it depends on when it starts to fade, which is when you notice some wrinkles starting to come back. I have patients who only see it last for three months, and others who see longer results. On average, it lasts about three to four months, which in my experience is very similar to traditional Botox treatments.“.
In terms of prices, do not expect ‘baby prices’. The specialist charges 400 pounds (about 450 euros) for injections in the forehead and crow’s feet. This corresponds to the average price that can be found in many aesthetic clinics.
