Pokemon GO starts event “High Voltage” tomorrow – everything about Shinys, spawns, content

The next event in Pokémon GO is “High Voltage”. We summarize what happens in the event.

When is High Voltage? The new event begins on Friday, January 27, 2023. It will start at 10:00 local time and will then run until Sunday, February 05, 2023 at 23:59.

During the event, various electric Pokémon are on the move, but also some other monsters. You can also hunt for new Shinys.

Last but not least, the event will also bring a Rocket takeover – not at the start, but only on Wednesday, February 1st.

Which Pokémon and Shinys bring high voltage?

New High Voltage Shinys: Two new Shinys can be caught during the event if you’re lucky.

  • One of these shinys is Kapu-Riki. You can encounter the legendary Pokémon in the level 5 raids. Here you will find the best counters against Kapu-Riki.
  • The second monster is Eguana. You’ll find this in the Wilderness, Raids, Eggs, and Field Research. It has an evolution, Elezard.

    What’s happening with Team GO Rocket? On February 1st, 2023, a new Rocket takeover will start. Then not only numerous bullies will appear, but also change their teams.

  • You can unlearn the Frustration attack and improve your monsters
  • The bullies and bosses change their teams
  • A new special research for a Super Rocket Radar becomes available
  • Several new Crypto Pokémon are said to be coming into play
  • Giovanni, the Rocket boss, will change his team. This allows you to get a new monster.

    • Instead of Crypto-Mewtwo, the boss will then use Crypto-Registeel. By the way, keep that in mind if you don’t already have Crypto Mewtwo – because it’s one of the absolute top attackers in the game.

    If you have a Radar or special research left, it’s worth defeating Giovanni before he switches Pokémon.
