The authorities managed to stop Hive’s operations by attacking the servers it used.

Deputy Attorney General of the United States Lisa Monaco praised the actions of the authorities in the case and said they “hacked hackers”.

In addition, the authorities obtained the keys used to encrypt the stolen data and delivered them to the victims.
