Russia has launched two missile waves at Ukraine after Germany and the United States announced on Wednesday that they would supply Ukraine with Leopard 2 and M1 Abrams main battle tanks.
Russia launched 24 Iranian drones from the Sea of Azov into Ukraine during the night. Ukraine says it has rejected all of them.
After this, on Thursday morning, Russia carried out missile attacks on Ukraine.
Ukraine shot down 47 of the 55 missiles fired by Russia, Ukrainian general Valery Zaluzhny says on his Telegram channel. According to the general, 20 of the missiles were shot down in the vicinity of Kiev.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia used, among other things, Kh-59, Kalibr and hypersonic Kinžal missiles.
According to the Ukrainian authorities, the attacks mainly hit energy and other infrastructure.
Mayor of Kyiv Vitaly Klytsko says on his Telegram channel that one person has died in a Russian rocket attack in the Holosijiv area. In addition, according to the mayor, two people have been injured. According to Klytško, the attack was not aimed at a residential building.
Attacks on the energy infrastructure caused power outages in Odessa, for example. French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna visited the city after the missile strikes.

Russia on battle tanks: Western side of the war
The Kremlin commented for the first time since the airstrikes on the deliveries of battle tanks announced by the West on Wednesday.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov European countries and the United States repeatedly make statements about sending various weapons, but say it does not mean involvement in the war.
– Russia strongly disagrees with this, says Peskov.
– Everything that the allies and the countries I mentioned do is seen in Moscow as direct participation in the conflict. This kind of activity only increases.
However, Peskov downplays the importance of battle tanks for the war.
– Their potential for the Ukrainian army is clearly exaggerated. Those tanks burn just like any other, says Peskov.
