  • Truck stopped with stolen roof boxes

Three people have been arrested on suspicion of stealing roof boxes in the Stockholm area.

The persons were arrested on Friday, after detectives from the border police discovered how cars, sometimes with and sometimes without roof boxes on the roof, drove to and from a place in Upplands Väsby.

When the police found the place where the boxes were to be reloaded into a truck, an operation was launched. Three men were arrested on the spot and 20 roof boxes were seized.

When police searched another vehicle, additional roof boxes were found.

    – Probably all the stolen roof boxes have been found. We have very likely stopped an ongoing crime series that has affected residents of northern Stockholm, says Daniel Almskog, group leader of the border police’s group against international criminal networks, in a press release.

The police suspect that the men planned to further transport the roof boxes out of Sweden.

  • Spy convict Peyman Kia appeals

Peyman Kia, 42, was sentenced to life in prison for aggravated espionage last week. He has, according to the district court, given secret information to Russia together with his brother Payam.

But Peyman Kia is not satisfied with the verdict and has now appealed it, according to News Agency Sirén.

“The district court has come to an incorrect conclusion regarding responsibility and punishment. Peyman Kia denies the crime. Against Peyman Kia’s denial, the prosecution is not reliably substantiated,” writes his lawyer Anton Strand.

Brother Payam Kia, 35, was sentenced to nine years and ten months in prison. It is unclear whether he intends to appeal his sentence.

  • Turkey’s foreign minister: “Meetings with Sweden and Finland are now meaningless”

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has now stated that Islamophobic Rasmus Paludan burned the Koran outside the Turkish embassy in Sweden last weekend.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs also says that at the moment there is no question of assessing the two applications separately.

    – It is pointless to have meetings with Sweden and Finland now.

  • Three people have been requested to be detained for preparation for murder

During the morning, prosecutor Ulrika Rosén requested that three people be detained for aggravated weapons offenses and preparation for murder.

Chang Frick has participated in the Sweden Democrats’ Youtube channel Riks, but he has no connections to the party – party leader Jimmie Åkesson wants to emphasize that in an interview with TT.

Frick has drawn attention after it was revealed that he was the one who paid for the demonstration permit for when Islamophobic Rasmus Paludan burned the Koran outside the Turkish embassy last weekend.

    – He was a member of our party ten years ago or something like that. He has since been a member of another party. My image of Chang Frick is that he is primarily a debater and provocateur and general thinker, says Åkesson to the news agency.

  • Iranian minister: Close your eyes if you get excited by women without headscarves

Iran’s Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage Ezzatollah Zarghami urges men who get excited by seeing women who don’t wear headscarves to close their eyes, TT reports.

    – Bigotry unfortunately exists in the country. But we can no longer be hard on the people, Zarghami said after a government meeting in Tehran on Wednesday.

In October 2022, the minister drew sharp criticism from Iran’s ultra-conservatives after criticizing Iran’s morality police. Now the minister believes that the requirement for headscarves threatens tourism in the country.
