(Finance) – The 56th edition was held today in Rome at the Spazio Vittoria Aiscat Assembly. The meeting was attended, among others, by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvinithe Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Edward Rixithe vice president of the Senate, Mauritius Gasparrithe President of Aiscat, Diego Cattoni and the Chief Executive Officer of Autostrade per l’Italia, Robert Tomasi. During the event, the dealers adhering to the Association illustrated their investment programmes.
In particular, the Chief Executive Officer of Autostrade per l’Italia, Roberto Tomasi: “Our forecasts for the Financial Economic Plan (PEF) estimate a total value of interventions equal to 21 billion euros, divided into two areas of development. The first includes investments in regenerative maintenance and is aimed at a continuous improvement of safety of our infrastructure. The interventions concern on the one hand modernizations for approx 270 km of tunnelsout of a total plan of 365 km, on the other about 100 km of modernization of bridges and viaducts, compared to a total plan of 270 km” – declares Tomasi, who adds – “The second area of development pertains to investments for network enhancement. These are necessary to guarantee service conditions suitable for current traffic, and cannot be deferred, since without them regenerative maintenance interventions would lead to compromising the logistics of the country and consequently its competitiveness”.
In this regard, underlines Tomasi, “Many sections of the network ASPI today they are at the limits of their transport capacity and in the absence of upgrades to increase capacity they would be penalized even more. For these infrastructures, on-site expansion projects are available (third and fourth lanes, through Bologna) or out of office (Genoa eaves). The latter two works are defined by Roberto Tomasi as “vital for the country’s economy and essential for the Italian production system”.
Finally, the Chief Executive Officer of Autostrade per l’Italia takes up the challenges of sustainability and oftechnological innovation: “88% of goods in Italy travel by road. We feel responsible for improving logistics. The planning must be attentive to the impacts on the territory, to the choice of materials used and reused and to the mitigation and connection interventions with the other modal networks. In this sense, ASPI’s design methods refer to extremely high standards. ASPI has also launched the Mercury programme, which aims to systematize and accelerate the evolution of Italian motorways through the launch of concrete projects and the creation of a center of excellence for smart and sustainable mobility skills”.
