Sandra Näslund has beaten Ingemar Stenmark’s incredible record.
And he is impressed.
– She is superior, he says.
Sandra Näslund has long been ski cross’s brightest star, and it is rare that she is not at the top of the podium after a competition. In recent years, however, she has taken further steps in her development, and now she is actually completely superior in the sport.
Nice tribute
In fact, this weekend she won her 16th(!) consecutive World Cup victory, breaking a record that many thought was impossible to beat. Ingemar Stenmark won, 43 years ago, as many as 15 times in a row. But now it is another Swede who holds the record.
And Ingemar Stenmark is impressed. And surprised. “Stenis”, classified by many as our greatest athlete of all time, now tells Aftonbladet that he did not know he had the record.
– I didn’t know I had such a record, but it’s a good record she’s beaten and it’s fun for her. She is talented and impressive, says Ingemar Stenmark.

“She is superior”
Stenmark tells us that he thought he only had 13 wins in a row, but that he must have missed a slalom win in between as well. Now he is impressed by Sandra Näslund, a skater he has followed quite a bit over the years.
– Yeah absolutely. I have seen that she has been on top for several years. Now she is also superior, he says.
However, many have raised critical fingers after Näslund broke the record. Many have said that ski cross cannot be compared to traditional alpine disciplines. But Ingemar Stenmark thinks differently.
– It’s skiing anyway, so it’s okay to compare. For a while they compared biathlon to alpine skiing and it was perhaps a bit strange.
