Around 100 people, including Alexei Navalny’s brother Oleg, took part in the demonstration in the German capital to try to draw attention to Navalny’s fate. Some held placards calling for the release of all political prisoners in Russia, others for Russian President Vladimir Putin to be held accountable for war crimes over the war of aggression against Ukraine.
— There is a connection between what is happening to Alexei Navalny and the war in Ukraine, says Leonid Volkov, an associate of Navalny, who also organized the demonstration.
According to Volkov, the poisoning of Navalny and his subsequent imprisonment were part of the Kremlin’s crackdown on the Russian opposition before launching the war of aggression in Ukraine.
