There were no prizes at the Sports Gala for Elvira Öberg.
But on a completely different list, she ranks higher than both Nils van der Poel and Armand Duplantis – to her great surprise.
– It is a bit remarkable, says Elvira Öberg.
Last year there were three medals during the Olympics in Beijing Elvira Öberg, two individual silver medals and a gold in the ladies’ relay. When the Sports Gala was held recently, Öberg was nominated in the category “Team of the Year” together with Hanna Öberg, Lynn Persson and Mona Brorssonbut the quartet was without a prize.

But despite the missing award, Elvira Öberg is actually higher than that Nils van der Poelwho became the big winner of the Sports Gala, as the pole vault star Armand Duplantis. It is about the list of the most rewritten people in Swedish media in 2022, a list produced by TT.

That list includes, for example, politicians and artists, but of course also athletes. Elvira Öberg is there in 22nd place, two places ahead of Nils van det Poel. We find Armand Duplantis soon after, in place number 25. Something that surprises Elvira Öberg herself.
– I didn’t think so, she tells Expressen.

In the interview with Expressen, Elvira Öberg has to guess the order between herself, Nils van der Poel and Armand Duplantis.
– It shouldn’t be me, one might think. I think it’s Duplantis, she tells the newspaper.

But when the truth comes out, the surprise becomes even more palpable.
– Huh, is that me!? It is still somewhat remarkable.
The athlete who ranks highest among the most talked about people in 2022 is, not entirely unexpectedly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic in place 13.
– No, I had guessed that. But sooner or later you have to try to out-compete him, concludes Elvira Öberg.
