The value of the pearl depends, among other things, on its shape, size and luster. The rounder the better. A flawless copy is exceptional and can fetch up to 30,000 euros. A smaller pearl with imperfections is hardly worth a tenner. A jeweler who consulted the AD states that the pearl in the oyster is probably not very expensive, because the special specimens are usually found in warmer waters.
