In the very north of the island, the village of Cap Malheureux is named in memory of the boats that were shipwrecked there. It is also here that the English landed in 1810 to seize the island. The cape overlooks a few wild islets, including that of Coin de Mire, classified as a nature reserve. You will also see the emblematic Notre-Dame Auxiliatrice church and its red roof, set on the edge of the lagoon.
