Spotlight Hour on January 3rd Which Pokemon?

The first Spotlight Hour in January 2023 brings you Alolan Sandan. You can evolve it into Alolan Sandamer. Both Pokémon belong to the Ice and Steel types. What bonuses do you get?

For evolving Pokémon, you get double the amount of experience points. Who is it worth it for?

As an attacker, you can ignore Alolan Sandan. Alolan Sandamer, on the other hand, plays in PvP in the Super League and Hyper League in the upper midfield. But there are stronger alternatives here too. Also, Alolan Sandan has been a fairly common occurrence as event content.

Still, evolving Pokémon during this period is worth it to earn a lot of XP. Can you catch Shiny Alola Sandan?

Yes, the shiny form of Alolan Sandan is already active in Pokémon GO and you can catch it.

Spotlight Hour on January 10th Which Pokemon?

At the second limelight hour in January 2023 you will meet Fluffy. The Pokémon comes from the 6th generation of the game and belongs to the Fairy type. Its evolution is Sabbaione. What bonuses do you get?

For catching Pokémon, you get double the amount of Stardust. Who is it worth it for?

Fluffling is not particularly interesting as an attacker. In PvP, Sabbaione plays in the upper midfield in the Superliga and Hyperliga.

But the stardust bonus is exciting. Even if Fluffling is not easy to catch, you should use the event to fill up your dust resources. Can you catch Shiny Fluffling?

Yes, the shiny version of Fluffy is active in Pokémon GO.

Spotlight Hour on January 17th Which Pokemon?

The third Spotlight Hour in January 2023 brings you Samurzel. It is from the third generation of the game and belongs to the plant type. Its advancements are Blanas and Tengulist. What bonuses do you get?

You get twice the amount of experience points for catching Pokémon. Who is it worth it for?

While Samurzel and Blanas aren’t particularly strong attackers, Tengulist can be very useful in a variety of situations. In PvE for raids, it is a cheap alternative to many top dogs, especially for new players. In PvP, it plays almost at the top of the Superliga and Hyperliga. So if you are looking for a strong attacker of the types plant and dark, you should take the event with you. Can you catch Shiny Samurzel?

Yes, the shiny version of Samurzel is already unlocked in Pokémon GO and you can catch it.

You can also use the candy bonus when you catch raid bosses. Can you catch Shiny Zapplardin?

So far this is not possible. However, in an early graphic of the January events, Niantic stated that you could catch Zapplardin as Shiny, but later corrected the graphic and removed the Shiny meter. It’s quite possible that the Shiny will be released later this month.
