DIFFICULTY SWALLOWING
Also known as dysphagia, it occurs while eating or drinking. There are two types: oropharyngeal dysphagia affecting the mouth or throat; and esophageal dysphagia that affects your esophagus. Dysphagia can cause coughing or choking while eating or drinking, and you may also feel like food is stuck in your throat or chest. Constant drooling can also be a sign. Inability to chew food properly and a wheezing, wet sound when eating or drinking are both signs.
PERMANENT indigestion and heartburn
According to experts, if you experience heartburn for three weeks or more, you should consult a doctor. A feeling of indigestion can also be a sign. This is pain or discomfort in your upper abdomen (dyspepsia) or a burning pain behind the breastbone. After these symptoms, sometimes the foods you ate as acid reflux through the nose may come back. It causes an unpleasant, sour taste in the mouth and nasal passages. Both symptoms can occur together or on their own, usually soon after eating or drinking.
UNexplained weight loss
Combined with loss of appetite, unexplained weight loss can be a sign of esophageal cancer. Roughly half of patients experience this symptom, which may result from eating less food due to difficulty swallowing. Weight loss occurs as a result of lower calorie intake.
PAIN IN YOUR THROAT OR BEHIND YOUR CHEST BONE
In addition to having difficulty, there may also be pain when swallowing. This pain may present as a burning sensation that can also be felt behind your breastbone. The pain may also be felt in your back, behind your breastbone, or between your shoulder blades.
