Klingenthal’s combined race had to be changed to a joint start. In Urheilu’s expert Petter Kukkonen’s opinion, the decision of the competition jury was reasonable, even though Klingethal’s track is not at all suitable for a joint start race.

The combined World Cup weekend in Klingethal has suffered from too much wind. Because of this, the competition jury had to move the hill section to Sunday morning and change the competition format to a joint start.
The skiing section will be skied on Saturday according to the program, but as a joint start. Sports expert Petter Kukkonen according to Klingethal’s track is not very well suited for a joint start.
– We have already seen Ruka and Otepää, and I don’t think they were sporting artillery. Klingenthal is perhaps the least planned for a joint departure. The tracks are very narrow, with a lot of sharp turns and 180-degree turns, Kukkonen said.
– The starting layouts are not delicious. Just yesterday it had been a flour lair. The organizers have got the conditions right to the last drop, but when 54 men are put there, I bet it won’t be a good swing.
The race weekend in Klingenthal had to be moved from last weekend to this weekend due to weak snow conditions. Now the problem was the too strong wind, which disturbed the hill section. According to Kukkonen, one must be able to complete one practice round in order to jump the competition according to the rules.
On Saturday, about 20 men got down, some had to wait quite a long time for their turn. The Finns did not stay at the race site for nothing, but left early to return to the hotel.
In Kukkonen’s opinion, it was a reasonable decision, because before the skiing section, you still have to exercise and do ski tests. In addition, there is a long day ahead on Sunday, with 1.5 races ahead.
The hill section moved from Saturday starts at 8:30 local time, so the test lap is jumped at 7:30. The new competition starts at 10am local time.
– In Otepää, this was clarified, that according to the rules, two competitions cannot be carried out on the same day, but the rules are a moving world, Kukkonen stated.
– It is always better to be allowed to compete than to have to cancel the competition. Winters are for competing and summers for training.
The broadcast of the skiing part of the Combined World Cup from Klingenthal starts at 16:55 TV2.
