A far-right politician threatens to burn the Koran again
The Swedish-Danish far-right politician who caused a stir in Sweden last year with his anti-Islamic activities Rasmus Paludan has told of his intentions to burn the holy book of Muslims, the Koran, at his protest on Saturday.
Turkey has described Paludani’s plan as a hate crime and demands the representative of Sweden to condemn it.
Paludan’s visits, already known for burning the Koran, spawned last year’s Easter riots in Örebro and unrest in several other towns as well.
According to the Swedish news agency TT, several demonstrations related to Turkey and Sweden’s NATO efforts are planned for this day in Stockholm. Extensive police surveillance is planned for the city, and in addition, a large part of the city center is planned to be monitored by drones.
According to TT, Paludan has received permission from the Stockholm police to organize a public gathering in front of the Turkish embassy at one in the afternoon, i.e. at two o’clock Finnish time.
Turkey also recently canceled Vanhanen’s visit
