Sci-fi sequel Avatar 3 brings back Tulkun whale Payakan and villain Mick Scoresby
In an interview with Empire, producer Jon Landau reveals we’re looking forward to seeing the Fan favorite Payakan may look forward to. The giant Tulkun whale is responsible for several of the sequel’s best and most emotional scenes.
We consider Payakan to be a character, not just a creature. We will continue to develop his relationship with Lo’ak.

In addition, Payakan is responsible for the supposed death of the Whaler’s Mick Scoresby (Brendan Cowell) responsible. In the grossest scene of Avatar 2, he rips his arm off. After that, the villain whirls through the air and disappears into the waves. It seemed as if we had seen the last of Scoresby at that moment.
As it turns out, however, the bad guy is still alive and plotting revenge in Avatar 3. This increases the dramatic potential of the sequel and makes us excited to see Cameron bring the character back. After Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang), Scoresby is the second Avatar villain to remain unkillable.
When will Avatar 3 be in cinemas?
Until Payakan and Scoresby can settle their outstanding accounts, they have to wait almost two years. Avatar 3 launches on December 18, 2024 in German cinemas. The cinema releases for Avatar 4 and 5 are already fixed. If everything goes according to plan, there will be a new part every two years from now until 2028.
